Rhapsody Online Lessons

Thank you for visiting this page.

In these unprecedented and uncertain times we have decided that we are going to embrace the opportunity to continue our lessons in a new virtual way. We know that nothing beats being able to attend lessons in person and to be able to have human interaction and create some amazing work in real life, however, technology means that we can maintain our friendships and keep learning and improving our creativity throughout this period.

Starting from Wednesday 15th and Saturday 18th April 2020 our lessons will move fully online through two platforms - Flipgrid and Zoom!

We have included video tutorials on this page of how to access these programmes but please be assured that they are actually quite simple to use. If you do have any problems though please email us at info@rhapsodyacademy.co.uk and we'll be happy to help.

FAQs

Q: What is a Flipcode?

A: A Flipcode is like a room number. Each class has a Flipcode which you enter on Flipgrid and then then you enter your student's ID (password) to get into the room

Q: What is my child's class Flipcode?

A: The Flipcode for my child's class will have been emailed to you once your invoice was paid. If you can't find it please email us and we'll be happy to help

Q: What is my child's password for Flipgrid?

A: We call the password the ID. this is in your child's booklet which was posted out to them and has also been emailed to you. If you can't find it, please email us and we'll be happy to help.

Q: Do I have to use my computer or laptop from Flipgrid?

A: There is a Flipgrid app which you can either download to a parent phone or tablet or the student's own phone or tablet. The programme is designed for students to use and is very child friendly

Q: Will my child be taking part in live lessons on Zoom?

A: For the first block of the half term we will be using Zoom with the Senior Drama, Intermediate PA and Senior PA groups. Our Junior PA and Little Stars classes will be using Flipgrid only.

Q: What is a Zoom Meeting ID?

A: A Meeting ID is a 9 or 10 digit number. It is a little bit like a telephone number. Each class has one (except Little Stars and Juniors) and when it is time for your child's Zoom lesson they will enter the meeting ID and the password and join the lesson?

Q: Where do I find the Zoom Meeting ID and password?

These are emailed to parents once invoices are paid. If you can't find them please email and we will be happy to help.

Q: Who we'll be able to see videos my child uploads / interacts with on Zoom?

A: Both Zoom and Flipgrid are secure programmes that only our students, parents and Beth and Jamie have access to. If your child creates something on Flipgrid that we think is awesome we may post it to our social media channels also, just like we would in our normal classes.

Q: When can my child login to Flipgrid?

A: Flipgrid is available 24/7 and new activities for your child's class are uploaded according to the timetable below. The activities on the backstage area are updated throughout the week.

Q: How much do online lessons cost?

A: Lesson fees remain the same, however, we understand that all our families financial situations are different so for this reason we have decided to split the term in half and you pay half the fees for the first block of lessons and the other half for the second block.

Q: My child isn't sure about online lessons / my child is shy about going on camera.

A: We understand that this new way of working is completely brand new. It's brand new to us too. There are lots of activities to take part in on the Flipgrid, in the classes and in the backstage area. If you're child is feeling a little shy they can cover their face with an emoji sticker (see tutorial video on how to do that) or they could use the whiteboard function so that they aren't on the screen at all. Of course we would encourage everyone to be on screen as it's lovely to be able to see each other and interact but if it takes them a while we completely understand :)
